Oatmeal has been my staple breakfast for as long as I can remember. So over the years I’ve had alot of fun coming up with new and delicious flavor combinations. This week I’ve decided on a brown sugar and cinnamon base with peaches and raspberries plus a touch of maple syrup.
Making oatmeal is pretty simple, just add oatmeal to your liquid and cook. But that basic recipe can be customized in so many ways. For this recipe I cooked diced peaches with the oatmeal so the peach flavor was infused throughout instead of just a topping.
I topped the bowl with fresh peach slices and raspberries. The fresh peaches give a little texture and a slightly different peach flavor than the cooked peaches. The berries add a little brightness. Lastly I finished off with maple flavored yogurt (unsweetened greek yogurt + maple syrup). That was a perfect mix in to compliment the brown sugar and cinnamon base.
